Trustees

The role of Spin Off Productions trustees is to manage the charity including pursuit of its objects, general control, financial control and administration.

This means that they must ensure that:

The charity complies with its governing document, organisational law, and any other relevant legislation or regulations.

The organisation pursues its objectives as defined in its governing document.

The organisation applies its resources exclusively in pursuance of its objectives. i.e. the organisation must not spend money of activities which are not included in its own objectives no matter how worthwhile or charitable those activities are.

To ensure the financial stability of the organisation.

To protect and manage the property of the organisation and to ensure the proper investment of the charity’s funds.

To make sure that the charity is properly insured against all reasonable liabilities.

To appoint and support employees and monitor their performance.

Joanna Capes

Chair of Trustees​

My name is Joanna Capes and I currently work part time as Practice Manager and Dental Care Professional in a small private dental practice locally. I also work the rest of my time for City Health Care Partnership as an Oral Health Practitioner mainly involved in training carers who work in residential homes or go into client’s homes supporting the elderly, special needs and vulnerable adults with their oral health and personal care. My main reason for wanting to support and become involved with Spin-off is down to being a lover of the arts and someone who has been involved in music and amateur dramatics for about 40 years now. I know from personal experience the benefits of expressing how you feel either writing or performing those feelings you have and the rewarding sense of achievement you get from sharing this with others.

My personal interests are music, singing in my local church choir and ringing the church bells. I also enjoy film and theatre. I like nothing more than spending time sharing these interests with my family and walking our family dog Daisy.

Gwen Lunn

A British subject I came to England in 1960 and since that time have felt Hull to be my home. I have 1 adult son and a granddaughter who I am pleased to say share my home with me.   My professional career has largely been spent being involved with the finance world, apart from a two-year period when I owned and ran a news agents’ business. In 1990 I left University, I was reading for a BSc in Accounting, to join the council in the heady days of community charge.

The Council progressed to have Area Committees and a Cabinet system in 1995. I was appointed to be the Coordinator, then Director of an area of Hull which encompassed 3 electoral wards.

Finally, being elected 2015 for the Newland Ward, as a Labour Councillor. In 2016 I was appointed to my current Cabinet position, a post I still enjoy holding, The ward i Currently represent is the University ward. I am not up for re- election until 2022. My portfolio is fairly large, and I serve on around 18 or so boards apart from the normal work of a portfolio holder.

On a personal basis I am an avid reader, almost entirely crime fiction but my most treasured ‘reads’ are Pride and Prejudice, Silence of the Lambs and The Godfather so make of that what you will.  I have an interest in wine and obtained the Wine and Spirit Education Certificate in 1998. 

Adrian Gosling

 

Adrian Gosling is the founder and a director of Finesse Digital, based at C4Di in Hull. Finesse is an agency which works with business and organisations throughout the UK, advising them on and managing Tech, Digital and Marketing strategies, projects and campaigns. Educated in Hull, outside of the digital world, he also has keen interests in music and the arts, as well as being a long-suffering Hull City supporter.

Sue Jones

 

Sue has taught children with special needs, of all ages, over a forty year period, most recently as Head Teacher of Ganton School, an outstanding provision in West Hull. She has combined this work with the role of foster carer to dozens of children and young people from disadvantaged backgrounds and now works full time for Barnardo’s caring for youngsters with autism. She is passionate about inclusion and the creative abilities of children who are wired differently and actively promotes involvement in the arts for these children.

Danny Cook

 

 

I am a 39-year-old hairdresser from Hull and have been a hairdresser for 23 years now.  I own my own house and own the salon I work in in with my brother which is called ACDC.  We employ 3 staff and have been together in business since 2005. Both my mother and father are also hairdressers.

In my personal life I like running playing football sports mostly football and tennis. I enjoy eating out with friends.  Business in general interests me and I like new challenges.

Alison Grantham

I am passionate about young people and education and have been privileged to be the Headteacher of Maybury Primary School full of fantastic children and talented staff.

I believe that education can transform young lives and that for children to love learning, the curriculum must be real and exciting. Development in and through the sports and the arts is one way to achieve this and at Maybury, we invest heavily in opportunities for children to develop in these areas.

Outside of my working life, I have been heavily involved in music, particularly with brass bands. For many years, I played tenor horn as a member of the Cottingham Band and then in the East Yorkshire Motor Services Band based in Hull. In 2015, I played with the Grimethorpe Colliery Band on their tour of Australia. For many years I was also the conductor of the Junior section of the East Riding Youth Brass Band. More recently, due to work commitments, I have scaled back my involvement with music and I now sing in a choir based in Bishop Burton.
